20 years of Kolping Honduras

Under the motto “20 years of sowing hope and reaping change”, Kolping Honduras was celebrating its 20th anniversary with Kolping members from all over the country from June 12 to 14.

Apart from festive church services, a ceremony in the cultural center in Danlí and folkloric dance performances, a three-day market was also held in Danlí where Kolping producers had an opportunity to present their products.

Many of them have managed to start their own business thanks to training and microcredits provided by the association. For example, the association helped the 13 members of the Nueva Esperanza Kolping Family to start a banana plantation with a small loan. This enabled them to purchase 2,000 banana seedlings and agricultural tools and get their project off to a successful start. A few months later, the seedlings have grown into strong plants that will soon bear fruit and become an important source of income for the members.  Rural development and adaptation to climate change is a priority for Kolping in Honduras. The members learn about the careful use of water, recycling, waste avoidance, organic farming and composting.

“We are celebrating the commitment of Kolping Honduras for a more just and humane world“, says Rufino Rodríguez, managing director of the national association.

KOLPING INTERNATIONAL warmly congratulates its Central American partner on this anniversary and wishes them all the best and God’s blessing for their future work on the ground.
