Do good, seek peace! 54th International Kolping Peace Walk

The 54th International Kolping Peace Walk took place in Rhede and Aschendorf in Lower Saxony in mid-May. “Do good, seek peace” was this year’s motto.  Around 200 members joined in from various Kolping associations from Germany, Luxembourg, South Tyrol, Slovenia, Austria, Romania and Switzerland. General Praeses Msgr. Christoph Huber solemnly opened the Peace Walk with a religious service. “The Peace Walk shows the spirit of solidarity that is cultivated by us at Kolping across borders,” General Praeses Huber said happily. “This solidarity is also shown amidst the hardship of war, making a network of help possible for our members in Ukraine and Myanmar who must cope with the terrible effects of war.”

The international Kolping Peace Walks have been organized since 1968. Initiated by the then Swiss National Praeses Josef Eberli, they were meant to promote international understanding after World War II.
