Successful Day of Action and meeting of the World Family

What a great meeting of our World Family! Today, KOLPING INTERNATIONAL hosted a Day of Action in Bensberg near Cologne with some 400 participants from 50 nations. They met to discuss One World work and universal church issues.

Frank Schwabe, Member of the German Parliament and Commissioner for Freedom of Religion or Belief of the federal government, had come from Berlin. In his opening address, he praised Kolping Families all over the world as examples of active Christians and as “jewels of social structure assistance” whose dedicated work make sustainable changes toward a more just word possible.

Kolping sister Yvonne Willicks facilitated two rounds of talks dealing with socio-ecological transformation and Kolping as a lay association and a possible role model for the Catholic church. Outside, the Kolping Climate Van and the Kolping Roadshow provided a wide range of information. Visitors also had an opportunity to determine their ecological footprint. In the afternoon, the participants had the chance to take part in numerous workshops. The event concluded with an international religious service in the early evening with General Praeses  Msgr. Christoph Huber making an urgent appeal to the Kolping community: Not to capitulate in the face of all the global challenges but to persevere, to take action and to remain committed to making this world a better place every day. Therefore: Let us remain a World Family!
